Wheel Lug Bolts
Lug bolts are a mystery to most people, especially on the American side of the pond since most of our cars use lug nuts and not lug bolts as most European models use (Audi, BMW, MBZ, VW just to name a few).
When buying lug bolts you need to consider the following:
- Do you need ball or conical seat bolts?
- What thread size do you require?
- What thread length do you require?
The seat is very important because that is part that sits on your wheel to keep it securely in place. When buying lug bolts for your factory wheels it is best to check with your dealer on what seat you require or if you are just replacing rusting bolts, just remove one and compare to the picture above. If you are installing on aftermarket/custom wheels, it is much easier to know the seat since 90% of aftermarket wheel manufacturers use acorn/conical lug bolts.
Thread size depends on your car, most cars use a 12×1.50 thread size but heavier cars like the 2008 MBZ SL use a thicker 14×1.50 thread size. New cars like the 2010 BMW X5 use the new 14×1.25 thread size.
Thread length is the size of the bolt shank. Thread length depends on your application.
We carry a wide range of lug bolts, for both factory and aftermarket wheels. Please click here to browse our bolts.
